May 3rd. A walk down the Bear River with Bre, Hucker and the Dogs!
Today myself, Bre and Hucker decided to take a walk from our home to downtown Petoskey via the newly paved Bear River Recreation Center Trail. This newly paved trail takes the place of the old foot worn trails that have lined the rivers edge for years.
Bre has walked this path before and has been trying for the past two weeks to get me to join her, but things have been so busy that i hadn't been able to find time until today.
Here are a few pictures from our walk.
This is a small bridge to pass over the river just below Bridge Street. We were walking over and the depth of field caught my eye. there was something about the running passing under the bridge that made me feel sick to my stomach. I pulled out the camera and this is what came of it.

There's a point on the path where the new concrete ends and the old trails come in to play. The city has been out and about sprucing up them up with grass seed, hay, benches and retaining walls. I don't know why but this part of the trail looked pretty baron to me.... the first thing i noticed was all the leafless trees, then how the hay mixed with the dirt, so i got low and snapped this pic.
These are our boys, Sexton is the white guy and Shaggy is the foxy looking one! They enjoy being out so much!
Hucker was having so much fun! Bre had him in a his hip sling and he just carried his stuffed dog around with him all day. He's at the point where he is trying super hard to talk, so this is him trying to verbalize something for the camera!
The water levels have been pretty high last few weeks due to huge amounts of rain fall! There were pieces of drift wood all over the banks. This one joined up with a rock to form a cool little dam where stray water passed through.
Along with all the renovations the city of Petoskey has been doing up along the Bear River, they have also put in a few little drainage water falls. This is one of them. The green was so vibrant that couldn't help but to get a shot.
